Volunteering at the Building Site Volunteers are what make Habitat homes possible! Thanks to the dedication of many volunteers, our 25th family (the Mastin family) moved into their home in October of 2010.Our current build at 4 Glove Street in Ashland started in September and will continue through the fall. Although we always welcome trained professionals, no experience or skill is needed to volunteer at the work site. When you arrive at the site, there will be a site supervisor who will be able to teach you the necessary skills. Our normal work days are Fridays and Saturdays from 8:30am-3:30pm. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age to work on the construction site (younger volunteers can help with food, fund raising, landscaping, etc.). Any volunteers under the age of 18 will have to have a parental waiver signed. If you are interested in volunteering on a Habitat home, please contact us and ask to be added to our volunteer list. You will receive emails with construction schedules. Volunteering at the ReStore (Ashland, NH). We have a new volunteer opportunity! In August of 2009, we opened the Pemi-Valley Habitat for Humanity ReStore. The ReStore is a retail outlet where the general public can buy used and surplus building materials at a fraction of normal prices. Proceeds from the ReStore go to building homes in Plymouth and the 13 surrounding towns. In essence, the ReStore is a big, ongoing fundraiser to help build Habitat homes in our area.Materials at the ReStore are donated by building supply stores, contractors, demolition crews or from individuals who wish to show their support for Habitat. All donations are tax deductible. In addition to raising funds, ReStores help the environment by re-channeling good, usable materials into house building and provide low cost renovation materials to the general public. We are looking for volunteers to assist in the following areas: working the front desk on Fridays and Saturdays, picking up donations, providing vehicles to pick up donations, building shelving / storage, publicity and advertising, soliciting donations, posting posters, and committee work (overall running of ReStore). Past retail or business experience is a huge plus! If you are interested in volunteering at the ReStore, please contact us. Board and Committee Work
There is
much more to building a Habitat home than just pounding
nails! We need help in areas such as providing food and
registration for the work site, assisting with fund
raising events, assisting with committees (publicity,
fund raising, construction, site selection, family
selection, church relations, etc.), and serving on the
board of directors.
